Held for Groton Generation Station Daryl Hill, Basin Today, November 2006 Photo: Steve Crane, courtesy of Basin Power Cooperative Commitment, innovation, and partnership were used to describe the Groton Generation Station during dedication ceremonies held Sept. 21. The 95-megawatt peaking plant is located five miles south of Groton, SD. [The plant includes a Romtec Utilities lift station.] About 150 people from the local area were on hand to hear about a commitment to power supply by Basin Electric, innovation in developing a new gas-fired turbine by GE Energy, and a partnership among electric cooperatives for providing electricity to consumers. Eliminating a Lake in
the Desert Stormwater, March/April 2005 Public works officials in Clark County, NV, had a situation: Adverse gravity conditions were causing an urban stormwater detention pond to drain improperly, leaving standing water over a 10-acre area. Their solution? To install a pre-engineered package lift station at the Desert Inn Detention Basin that pumps the last of the water in the basin to the elevation of the existing storm sewer main lines.
