BAE Systems, Inc. needed a new pumping system that could handle medium flows of industrial wastewater that was also skid mounted. This system was designed with self-priming pumps in a triplex configuration to avoid corrosive water conditions. It also utilized a small jockey pump that attached to a “skimmer” device to pump floating fluids that could rise to the top of the well, such as oil or grease. The skid pumping assembly and discharge piping included heat tracing to prevent freezing in an above-grade installation. The pump station electrical controls comprised a Siemens PLC with a touchscreen HMI, an ultrasonic transducer, and floats for redundancy.

Lauren Engineers & Constructors contacted Romtec Utilities to design a skid-mounted pumping system as a part of a larger project. BAE Systems, Inc. was constructing a new acetic acid plant and needed a pumping system capable of handling potentially corrosive water conditions. Working with Lauren Engineers & Constructors and BAE Systems, Romtec Utilities was able to design a skid-mounted pumping system that could meet the specified pumping requirements, operate above-grade, and handle the unique water characteristics. This project required added security with much of the information, and Romtec Utilities was able to design, manufacture, and supply this system per the specifications provided.
