Retreat at Ridgegate – Booster Pump Station & Integrated Control Building
Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a booster pump station and an integrated control building for an upscale development. This booster system regulates water pressure for the newly constructed homes. Romtec Utilities used Goulds 5 hp turbine pumps for the design of this pump station to meet the high flow/high head pumping requirements. The pumps are controlled with a variable frequency drive (VFD) to meet the variable pressure requirements of this application. Pressure transducers are located on both the inlet and discharge lines of this system to provide accurate measurements in real-time to the pump station controls. Consistent pressure is maintained throughout the system through an 81-gallon expansion tank. The tank also serves as a buffer to prevent pressure changes between pump starts and stops. Romtec Utilities designed and supplied the closed loop controls for this system using an Allen Bradley Compactlogix controller configured for this duplex pumping application.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was hired to design and supply a packaged booster pump station for a new luxury housing development by the developer Century Communities in Lone tree, Colorado. The booster station needed to be installed inside of an engineered control building. This required the pump station to be fully integrated into the design of the building with adequate space for clearance and auxiliary equipment. Additionally, the building included several upscale design features to fit the theme of the housing development. Romtec Utilities worked with Calibre Engineering, the site engineer, to design the booster pump station according to the specific requirements of the location. The design of the pump station was reviewed and approved by the local water authority, Southgate Water District, who will take ownership of the system was the development is complete. Installation of the building and pump station was completed by Velocity Plant Services. Romtec Utilities was selected for this project based on our ability to complete the design and supply of both the building and the booster system.
