Taverner Ridge – Residential Development Sewer Lift Station
Romtec Utilities designed, engineered, and manufactured a package wastewater lift station for a new housing development in Ridgefield, Washington. The new lift station ties into an existing force main and handles medium flows of residential sewage. To meet flow and head requirements, Romtec Utilities used 23 hp Flygt submersible pumps in a duplex configuration. These pumps include Flygt mix flush valves that divert a small portion of the pumped liquid to prevent build-up of FOG (Fats, Oils, Grease) and other solids. Adjacent to the wet well, a below-grade valve vault contains the operational valve assembly, including the check valve, gate valves, and access to a pigging port for maintenance of the force main. Meeting the local water district’s design criteria required a chemical feed odor control system that uses a calcium nitrate solution for treatment of hydrogen sulfide gas, or H2S. Additionally, Romtec Utilities provided a required disconnect panel for this system inside a NEMA 4X enclosure.

Working with the developer and the site engineer, HDJ Design Group, Romtec Utilities engineered this lift station to meet the CRWWD design standards and received full approval. Once approved, Thompson Bros Excavation, performed the installation of the system, and Romtec Utilities provide an on-site install adviser for support. Romtec Utilities finally sent a controls technician provide complete commissioning of the lift station with start-up, testing, and training services onsite for the owners.
