Town of Capital Heights, MD – Stormwater Pumping System
Stormwater Pumping System Project Description
Capitol Heights, Maryland is a small town in Prince George County that borders the eastern edge of the Washington District of Columbia.
It’s in close proximity to Washington D.C., making it an ideal place to live, work, and explore Maryland which is home to Joint Base Andrews and Baltimore.
Hampton Park Development, which is a joint venture started by Velocity Companies and ARC Properties which includes a large building project to revitalize the area. The new building is a mixed-use development that replaced the Hampton Mall. It’s pedestrian-friendly, and in a prime location close to the Capital Beltway and Central Avenue in Maryland.
The mixed-use development includes an office and hotel district, a retail district, and a residential district.
The site engineer was Soltesz, LLC and they were the project driver who brought this opportunity to Romtec Utilities. Soltesz provides civil engineering services in the Mid-Atlantic region.
This development needed a stormwater pump station to handle flooding at a combination residential/commercial site. This pump station saves the site in the event of flooding. Ultimately Bowen & Kron was awarded the contract as the general contractor. Bowen & Kron provides demolition services in Middle River, Maryland.
They then bid out the pump station work to underground contractors and CTG, Inc. ultimately won as the installing contractor. CTG, Inc. provides underground utilities and contractor services in Maryland
This new stormwater pump station that Romtec Utilities designed and supplied for this development, features Keen K12VK pumps in a triplex configuration with 25 horsepower.
The pump station also features an H20 hatch, ductile iron piping 14”, tide flex check valves 14”, 2 pressure transducers for level control, a stainless inlet diffuser panel, stainless guide rails, quick connect discharge elbows, and stainless pump divider baffles. It also includes a 12’ diameter wet well.
Romtec Utilities was excited to be a part of such a large stormwater pump station on a mixed-use development like Hampton Park in Capitol Heights, Maryland.
We design and supply pump stations for a variety of uses all over the United States as we design and supply each system to the specifications of the project and end owner.
