Start-Up & Testing

start-up of the McBryde Resources - Continuous High Flow, High Head Pumping System

Romtec Utilities pump stations are engineered to meet site specific performance conditions, and our Start-up and Testing services are important for verifying that each pump station we supply meets those performance requirements. This demonstrates to the system owners and operators that the pump station functions correctly and as intended through a variety of circumstances. As the system runs through the start-up and testing process, a Romtec technician documents all the performance details and gets an official sign-off from the owner. This documentation allows both the client and Romtec to confidently sign off on the completed system with a full demonstration and understand of it performance and operation.

Field Evaluations

Submersible Pump Being Installed

New Pump Stations, system retrofits, and other pump station services can require work at the job site with Field Evaluations. These services are a great value to the pump station owner because Field Evaluations solidify aspects of the design without having to make assumptions. This data can be anything from elevation points to conditions of the water, but an experienced Romtec Utilities technician will evaluate the complete site to document the pertinent data that will ultimately affect the pump station engineering. Getting this information at the beginning of a pump station design process makes sure that there are no major surprises that need to be worked out during the design phase.

Repairs & Retrofits

Pump Stations integrate structural, mechanical, electrical, and communication assemblies into a single engineered system. Sometimes, pump stations fail because one of those aspects of the system becomes too old, breaks, or becomes unsuitable for changing conditions. Pump Station Repair and Retrofit Services involve evaluating all aspects of the pump station to determine if any of the structural, mechanical, electrical, or communication system are suitable for continued long-term operation. Then, Romtec develops a plan to integrate all the new pump station components and systems with those that can be retained from the existing system.

Onsite Construction

Romtec Utilities Onsite Construction Services give our customers the option for complete turnkey pump stations to meet all types of needs. Our underground contractors are experienced at installing our pump stations and can save time and money during the construction phase of your pump station project. Our Onsite Construction can help avoid a lengthy bid process where sole sourcing, direct purchase, or award schedules and contracts are available. This also provides a viable installation option in locations where reliable underground contractors are limited or heavily scheduled. Working through a single partner for the design, supply, and construction can also reduce the overall cost of the project by avoiding markup during each project phase.

Design Submittals

Our pump station Design Submittal Documents are some of the most accurate and thorough design engineering documents available for any pumping system. Our Engineers and Documentation Team go to great lengths to provide a full system specification, including all relevant component cut sheets, engineering drawings, installation instructions, site plans with equipment layouts, criteria for design, and any other pertinent pump station information. This gives our customers a look at the full system for their approval to ensure that they get everything required in the system design. Our Submittals help avoid delays and change orders by providing an accurate communication tool that can be used through fabrication, shipping, construction, pump station start-up, and warranty.

Prefabrication

Prefabrication involves the assembly of pump system components off-site in a controlled environment, and then transporting them to the final construction site for installation. Romtec Utilities prefabricates various components including the valve assemblies, control panel, and other auxiliary vault structures. Romtec Utilities’ prefabrication services offer a cost-effective and efficient solution for the construction of pumping systems, providing clients with high-quality, easy to install systems, that meet their specific requirements.

Structural/Mechanical Integrations

Irrigation Control Building Designed to House Booster Pump Station

Pumping systems often require buildings and structures to improve the functionality and accessibility of the pump station. Romtec Utilities provides expertise and experience when it comes to integrating pump stations with all structural, all mechanical, all electrical, and all communications systems with buildings and structures. Our engineers make sure you get a nominal building footprint that still allows for access to pump station equipment for operation and maintenance. We also make sure that the proper codes are followed for ventilation, electrical connections, operating space, lifting, and other requirements.

Shipping & Delivery

Romtec Utilities gathers all of the materials for the pumping system at our site, and performs testing and prefabrication, prior to shipping. For Shipment & Delivery, we place all the wet well structures on a truck, along with the valve vault and prefabricated pumping skid and ship these items directly to the construction site for installation. Romtec Production takes the time to stage all items for construction so that contractors can easily access the materials they need for each phase. Prior to delivery, Romtec coordinates with the installing contractor so that when the shipment arrives to the site, they are prepared to offload the truck with the necessary equipment and place items in the staging area for construction.
