Sammamish Plateau Water – Wastewater Lift Station for Residential Development
Project Description
Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a wastewater lift station for a new housing development in Sammamish, Washington. The system connects the newly constructed homes into the existing force main. High efficiency Sulzer 40hp pumps were selected for this high head pumping application. These pumps operate with an internal cooling process and can pump evenly when the pump is not fully submerged without overheating. Operational valves, including check and gate valves, were installed in a dedicated valve vault with a bypass pumping port for continuous operation during system maintenance. A separate meter vault was also installed with Siemens flowmeter and a pressure transmitter connected to the SCADA network for logging and troubleshooting capabilities. Water levels are detected through a pressure transducer device with mechanical floats installed for redundancy. Electrical controls for this lift station were designed using a MicroLogix PLC configured for this duplex pumping application.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
The construction of the Cedar Hill housing development in Sammamish, Washington required a wastewater lift station to connect new homes into the existing sewer infrastructure. Romtec Utilities was contacted to design and manufacture the lift station according to local standards. This was a large project that involved multiple engineering firms and contractors working together. Romtec Utilities worked closely with Core Engineering & Design and Stantec, engineering firms working for Terrene Homes, the developer of the property. The design of the lift station was submitted to Sammamish Plateau Water, the water authority, to ensure the system stayed within their design standards. Once construction of the residential development is completed, ownership of the lift station will be transferred to Sammamish Plateau Water. Universal Land purchased the lift station directly and carried out the installation of the system. Romtec Utilities then sent a start-up technician to the job site to commission the system and provide start-up, testing, and training services for operating personnel.
