Fort Collins, Colorado Replacement Wastewater Lift Station
For this commercial replacement pump station close to a university, we worked with the private contractor and civil engineer to lower the price of the wastewater lift station and adjust the design of the system. Therefore, we met the needs of the commercial replacement pump station by lowering the price and finalizing the design, which replaced an old system for a new grocery store and large marketplace with stores in an old, blighted, area.

It is home to Colorado State University and is a proud college town. The Fort Collins metropolitan area had a population of 375,000.
Commercial Development Replacement Wastewater Lift Station
With a college town comes the need to feed a lot of hungry college students. The North College Marketplace is close to Colorado State University just to the north and is a large retail center home to the King Soopers marketplace grocery store in Fort Collins, Colorado. The Marketplace features general merchandise and grocery store as the anchors of that commercial development. This 26-acre plot was a devastated area previously and the new development brings new energy, stores, and restaurants to the area.
The civil engineering firm, Ayres Associates, contacted Romtec Utilities to provide designs and budgetary pricing for a wastewater lift station to be installed at a new food & drug store called King Soopers. The preliminary design and pricing were reviewed by the private contractors, Connell Resources, and Ayers Associates.
King Soopers is the final owner of the wastewater lift station for their new grocery and drug store in Fort Collins, Colorado.
Ayres Associates is a civil engineer providing a variety of engineering services for projects with an office based in Fort Collins that focuses on water resources along with other services.
Connell Resources is a full-service site development and infrastructure general contractor specializing in site clearing and demolition, earthwork and development based in Windsor, Colorado.
College Marketplace Wastewater Pump Station
The only revision requested was that the price be lower after the preliminary design. Romtec Utilities asked for a proposed budget for the design and was directed to make a few amendments to the design criteria. The proposed changes and requested price were quickly met by Romtec Utilities. The commercial replacement pump station was approved by the City of Fort Collins shortly after.
Getting the price lower and the designs finalized quickly allowed this commercial development to proceed for the King Sooper marketplace in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The food & drug store serving a nearby university needed this replacement package wastewater lift station for medium flow rates.
Commercial Replacement Pump Station
Submersible Flygt solids handling pumps were designed to operate with suspended grease in the water from a cafeteria in the market.
The lift station valves are vertically integrated into the sump discharge piping. An indoor UL listed control panel contains an intrinsically safe barrier for the in-well electrical controls, and an autodialer and basic alarm fulfill communication requirements. Flygt floats are the primary and backup level-sensing control devices. The replacement wastewater lift station can pump 150 gallons per minute, Valmatic backflow actuator, 6’ diameter wet well, and 4” discharge piping.
There is a grease trap positioned next to the wastewater lift station along with a sanitary service line also adjacent to the grease trap.
Romtec Utilities provided an onsite construction technician to help ensure the system was installed the way the system was designed. We also provided start up commissioning of the system, along with training of the maintenance team, to ensure they know the operations of the system and controls.
