The Marke Luxury Apartments – Unique Stormwater Pumping Solution
Project Description
This stormwater pump station was designed to handle variable flows of stormwater runoff. The typical stormwater expectations called for low flow pumping, but this pump station needed to handle high flows as well. Two different sizes of submersible centrifugal pumps were used; a 7.5 hp pump and a 25 hp pump. The pumps required differently sized discharge piping and valves for each pump. A PLC control panel handles all lift station functions including starting and stopping on level, SCADA options, an autodialer for communications, and a soft starter for the large pump.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was contacted by Fuscoe Engineering to help engineer this lift station in an economical fashion. Romtec proposed this unique design using two differently sized pumps and force main diameters. The general contractor, Tilden-Coil Construction Inc, approved of the design because it met the design criteria for a nominal cost. The Mark Company bid the installation of the Romtec Utilities design and was the selected underground contractor. Romtec Utilities sold the complete package lift station to The Mark Company and provided an onsite construction advisor to assist the installation process. This process shows a typical progression of how Romtec Utilities can work with a civil engineering firm, a general contractor, and an installer in a cost effective manner.
