Goleta Sanitary District – Comprehensive Wastewater Lift Station
Project Description
This lift station serves a large area and was installed at Santa Barbara Municipal Airport as part of a larger project. Two submersible solids handling pumps are supported by a jockey pump that acts as a sump pump for periods of low flow. An impressive control building contains the UL listed control panel, a backup diesel generator and automatic transfer switch, electric meter main, and ferrous chloride odor controls. The electrical controls interface directly with the existing detailed SCADA system used by the Goleta Sanitary District.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Penfield and Smith, the civil engineering firm for the City of Santa Barbara, proposed a Romtec Utilities design for this lift station project. The complete system was designed with a large control building for the generator, control panel, and a ferrous oxide chemical feed for odor control. The Romtec Utilities design became the specified design document in the City’s request for proposals, and Tierra Contracting Inc. was awarded the project. Tierra Contracting got approval quickly because the sophistication of the lift station design did not warrant an in-depth revision process. After installation, Romtec Utilities worked with the City’s consultant to integrate the lift station controls with the City’s supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) programming.
