Sports Fields, Inc. needed a complete wastewater lift station that could support a busy recreation destination with changing daily demands. The nearby Sports Force Parks complex hosts large tournaments for baseball, softball, soccer, and lacrosse, so the system had to support high-use restrooms, concessions, and athletic facilities during peak event traffic.

Romtec Utilities worked with Barge Design Solutions to develop a practical pumping solution for the site. Connecting the lift station to the existing pressure sewer line helped limit additional site work and avoided the need for a longer sewer extension. Erie County owns and operates the completed lift station.

Sports Fields, Inc. led the sports facility construction work and turned to Romtec Utilities for a wastewater lift station that matched the needs of the site. The project called for a reliable system that could handle changing flows during practices, games, tournaments, and other high-traffic events.

Miller Brothers Construction installed the system. A Romtec Utilities technician provided on-site construction support, commissioned the lift station, and trained the owners and operators on the completed system.

The project team needed a wastewater lift station that could manage rapid changes in demand during practices, games, and tournaments while discharging into an existing pressurized sewer system. The controls also had to respond as pressure changed in the force main, and the complete package had to align with the site design and the owner’s operating requirements.

Romtec Utilities supplied a complete package with duplex EBARA pumps, an Allen-Bradley PLC panel, VFDs, a pressure transducer, a wet well, a valve vault, and backup floats. Romtec Utilities coordinated with Sports Fields, Inc. and Barge Design Solutions so the station matched the pressure sewer connection, installation plan, and facility needs.

Because the station discharges into a pressurized system, its controls needed to adjust pump operation as force-main pressure changed.

To support those conditions, the pump station uses an Allen-Bradley PLC panel with VFDs and a pressure transducer. The pressure transducer communicates with the VFDs, which adjust pump speed as pressure changes in the force main. This control strategy helps the station maintain reliable operation during changing flow conditions.

The duplex lift station includes 7.5 hp EBARA pumps selected for the project’s required flow conditions. A sump pump inside the valve vault removes accumulated water to help protect station components. Nolta floats provide backup level sensing for added operational reliability.

The completed sports park wastewater lift station includes a 5-foot diameter wet well, 3-inch discharge piping, duplex EBARA pumps, a 3-inch valve vault, VFD controls, a pressure transducer, and backup floats. Each component supports reliable wastewater pumping, responsive control, and dependable operation for the sports facility.

Sports Fields, Inc., Miller Brothers Construction, Barge Design Solutions, and Romtec Utilities coordinated the design, supply, installation, startup, and operator training. The completed station connects Cedar Point Sports Center to existing wastewater infrastructure and gives Erie County a site-specific system for changing facility demands.
