City of Woodburn, OR – Wastewater Lift Station
Wastewater Lift Station Project Description
The Boone’s Crossing project is located in Woodburn, Oregon in the heart of the Willamette Valley in the Northwestern part of the state. Tulip fields, vineyards, and the natural beauty of the valley draw visitors to the town. Annual Tulip festivals and La Fiesta Mexicana are just two of the annual events that visitors and residents can come together and enjoy.
Woodburn Development LLC, with ICON Construction and Development, Emerio Design, and Canby Excavations were in need of a wastewater lift station for a new development. Romtec Utilities has completed projects with the City of Woodburn in the past, and was chosen for the supply of this lift station
Wastewater Lift Station Design
The Romtec supplied wastewater wet well is a precast 10’ inner diameter (ID) well that is 36’ in depth. This system is a “triplex” system with three 12 horsepower (HP) Flygt submersible pumps. In the event that the pumps need maintenance or need replaced, a davit crane is onsite to lift out the heavy pumps without causing injury to personnel.
The level sensors in this wastewater system are a pressure transducer (primary) and five Nolta Floats (secondary). These level sensors communicate with the controller, a Micrologixs 1400 PLC, to control the pumping cycles.
A disconnect stand and panel makes it easy and safe to disconnect the electrical components in the wet well in case of emergency or maintenance. Disconnect panels also make for easy visual inspection of the cables and connections.
In addition to the precast wet well, a precast 687 vault was supplied as a meter vault, and a precast 810 vault was supplied as a valve vault. Inside the meter vault, a 10” flowmeter measures the flows through the station to report back to the City of Woodburn. Separate meter vaults, like in this project, may be necessary if there is not enough room in the valve vault, or if there is not enough straight pipe in the valve vault to accommodate the flowmeter.
Romtec Utilities would like to extend our appreciation to the installing contractor, Canby Excavating Inc, for installing this lift station. We would also like to thank Woodburn Development LLC, ICON Construction and Development, and the City of Woodburn for the opportunity to join this project.
