West Sound Utility District – Wastewater Pump Station
Wastewater Station Project Description
In the Blueberry Ridge and Geiger Regional project, Romtec Utilities worked with two different developers and the West Sound Utility District for the supply of a wastewater lift station.
The Blueberry Ridge and Geiger Regional project is a joint project with Oakridge Homes ltd. (Blueberry Ridge) and JWJ Group (Geiger). Each entity is developing their own housing development in Port Orchard, Washington, and JWJ came to Romtec Utilities for the supply of a lift station to service their development. Oakridge Homes Ltd was developing their own housing project, separate from JWJ. Romtec Utilities was recommended by JWJ to Oakridge Homes Ltd. as we had previously worked with JWJ and developed a reputation as a company who works fast and meets tight timelines.
Romtec Utilities was able to supply a single wastewater lift station that would serve the two developments. The supplied wastewater lift station is composed of a 6’ inner diameter wet well that is 19.66’ in depth and large enough to accommodate future flows from the developments. Inside the wet well, two Flygt 23 horsepower submersible pumps pump waste out of the well, and the level is monitored by a Xylem Conductive Probe with 5 NOLTA MS1 floats as backup.
Wastewater Station Design
In addition to the wastewater lift station, Romtec Utilities supplied a control building from our sister company, Romtec Inc. This control building is composed of gray ground face block, with lap siding on the gable ends, and a beaver brown metal roofing. The interior of the building can be accessed through a door on the side of the building or through an 8’ roll-up door that accommodates large equipment stored inside.
Inside the control building, components such as the generator, the control panel, and the ATS are securely kept away from the public, reducing the chances of vandalism and related issues. These components will also be protected from temperature and weather conditions, as the building is fully insulated and includes a mini-split to control the conditions inside. Romtec control buildings also ensure that there is proper ventilation for the interior generator . This includes items such as the appropriate exhaust fans and vents. The Blueberry Ridge and Geiger Regional wastewater lift station will be owned and maintained by the West Sound Utility District who “is committed to: providing its customers with quality water, sewer and wastewater treatment services; and ensuring fiscally and environmentally sound management of their publicly owned water and sewer system and resources”.
