Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital – Municipal Stormwater Pump Station
Project Description
This simple package lift station was designed to handle the medium flows of stormwater at this hospital facility. Submersible centrifugal pumps in a duplex configuration alternate pump starts or can both operate in high stormwater events. The pumps are protected from inflows by an HDPE deflector panel. There is a below-grade electrical junction box in a concrete vault. System controls were designed with a UL listed control panel, float controls for liquid level-sensing, a basic alarm, and an autodialer for telecommunications.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Penfield & Smith contacted Romtec Utilities early in 2007 to provide preliminary designs and budgetary pricing for a stormwater lift station for the City of Santa Barbara. The City and Penfield & Smith opted to specify the Romtec Utilities design in their requests for bids. Tierra Contracting, Inc. was awarded the project. Romtec Utilities worked with these and other agencies for over four years before this lift station was installed and started-up. Several price configurations and design changes were submitted during that time until an agreed upon option was reached. The project was completed in 2011, and Romtec Utilities worked hard to advise along every step of the way.
