City of Beaumont – Wastewater Lift Station for Master Planned Community
Project Description
Romtec Utilities designed, supplied, and manufactured a packaged wastewater lift station for a new planned community development in the City of Beaumont, California. This is a large system will meet the sewage flow requirements for 981 new homes getting constructed. Romtec Utilities used powerful 35 hp Flygt submersible pumps installed in a duplex pumping configuration. Multiple air release valves were installed with this large pumping system to prevent air from being trapped in the pipeline. The volume of sewage in the wet well is detected with a reliable ultrasonic transducer and mechanical floats for redundant protection. Electrical controls for the system were configured using a Micrologix PLC. Pressure gauges and a flow meter are used to monitor and communicate information about the pump station via a SCADA system.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
The Olivewood development is a master-planned community in the City of Beaumont that required a lift station to convey sewage from 981 new homes. Like many private developments, the developer, RSI Communities, was responsible for preparing the land and connecting it to the City of Beaumont’s infrastructure. Romtec Utilities was contacted to design a wastewater lift station to meet the high flow demands of the neighborhood while meeting the standards of the City of Beaumont, who will take ownership of the system once the development is complete. Stantec was the site engineer for this project and had experience with Romtec Utilities systems from previous projects. The design of the lift station was engineered using site data and expected flow rates provided by the engineer and approved by the City. K & L Contracting installed the system once the site was ready. Once permanent power was connected, a Romtec Utilities start-up technician travelled to Beaumont to provide commissioning, testing, and training services for the owners at the City.
