Battleground School District – Wastewater Lift Station for School Improvement
Project Description
Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a wastewater lift station for a school district in Vancouver, Washington. The new system collects and discharges wastewater from two separate schools. Romtec Utilities used 11 hp Flygt pumps installed in a duplex configuration to meet the medium head conditions and flow requirements for this application. Electrical connections into the wet well of the lift station were made via a safe disconnect panel that will also improve access to pumps for maintenance crews. A pressure transducer is the primary level sensing device with a conductive probe installed for redundant protection. The lift station is operated through a MicroLogix 1400 programmable logic controller (PLC) configured by Romtec Utilities for this duplex pumping application.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was asked to design and supply a wastewater lift station for the Battleground School District in Southern Washington. The new pumping system was one aspect of a large facilities improvement project for the school grounds and would be owned by the school district. Designing the lift station for this application required Romtec to meet the local standard for sewer lift stations established by the Clark Regional Wastewater District. Working with Olson Engineering, the site civil engineer for the school district, Romtec completed the design according to these requirements. Installation of the system was sent out to public bid and was awarded to Tapani Construction. Once the installation was complete, Romtec Utilities scheduled system start-up and sent a field technician to commission the system while training owners at the Battleground School District.
