County of Santa Barbara – Replacement Sewer Lift Station
Project Description
Santa Barbara County needed this package lift station to replace an existing system serving a residential area next to Goleta Beach. Ebara submersible sewage pumps were engineered in a duplex configuration to alternate starts and create redundancy in the system. Liquid level-sensing also includes redundancy by using Dwyer floats as the primary control device and a Multitrode probe for high-level backup. A UL listed control panel uses a NEMA 4X stainless steel enclosure to be safely located outside of the existing control building.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Santa Barbara County and Penfield and Smith contacted Romtec Utilities to design a lift station replacement for an existing wastewater lift station. Romtec Utilities and Penfield and Smith engineered a plan to remove the existing system and install the Romtec Utilities packaged lift station “in the hole” of the removed system. Romtec Utilities provided an on-site construction advisor and start-up services. Santa Barbara County requested help after the lift station was installed to integrate the Romtec Utilities control panel with a SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) provider that the County uses. Romtec Utilities provided onsite installation and testing of the new components to implement the County’s SCADA device.
