Portland Airport – New Terminal Wastewater Pumping
Project Description
To accommodate a new private terminal and hanger, Portland Airport needed a new wastewater lift station to handle a medium flow of sewage from the new buildings. This lift station was designed with a precast concrete wet well and Ebara submersible pumps in a duplex configuration. This system utilized simple electrical controls with a standard logic relay controller in UL listed panel. The system level sensing comprised a pressure transducer with four NOLTA floats used as redundant level control. The complete electrical control panel was located over 100 feet from the wet well and valve vault in a new building interior for weather protection and keeping the drive ways clear.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
KPFF, civil engineer on the project, brought this project to Romtec Utilities for a new wastewater lift station design. Romtec Utilities worked with KPFF to design this lift station system and develop a complete system specification to integrate with the KPFF bid documents. Once the specification was approved with the bid package by Portland Airport, the owner of the lift station, the project construction was put out to bid. Kerr Contractors, Inc. was awarded the project using the Romtec Utilities product scope and quotation for its bid. Romtec Utilities then sold the lift station to Kerr Contractors and provided an onsite advisor for the system construction. Romtec Utilities then provided start-up and training for the system.
