Kitsap County – Wastewater Pump Station
Wastewater Station Project Description
Romtec Utilities is very familiar with providing pump stations to service any type of new development. For the “On the Ridge” project, Romtec Utilities supplied a new wastewater pump station serving a combination residential/townhome development by Norpoint Communities in Kitsap County, Washington.
Norpoint Communities is a developer who has built numerous communities in Tacoma and the surrounding areas. Their developments include communities for adults 55 and older, and townhomes. Norpoint Communitiies has even partnered with “Generations Home Care” to provide residents a host of in-home care services, from housekeeping, grocery shopping and errands; to mobility assistance and bathing.” (“In-Home Care”, 2020)
The Romtec Utilities supplied lift station for the On the Ridge project is a duplex system housed in a precast, 6’ inner diameter wet well that is approximately 17’ in depth. Level sensing in the wet well is achieved by a pressure transducer, which measures the water pressure at the bottom of the well and calculates depth from that pressure.

As a failsafe, NOLTA MS1 floats were installed as secondary level sensing devices to prevent hazardous overflows. The level sensors send signals to the controller, an Allen Bradley CompactLogix controller, which initiates the pump down cycles by activating the two Flygt 4 horsepower submersible pumps in the lift station.
In addition to the wet well and interior components, Romtec Utilities also supplied a precast valve vault with 4” piping and valves. The addition of the valve vault will make it easier and safer for Kitsap County Public works, who will be maintaining the lift station, to access the piping and valves for maintenance and/or repair.
The lift station package was provided to Norpoint Communities, who worked with Romtec Utilities directly for the purchase of the lift station which was installed onsite by RV Associates. The successful commissioning of this lift station has provided the new homes with sewer service and has transferred ownership of the station to the Kitsap County Public works.
