City of Shafter – Municipal Sewer Expansion Lift Station
Project Description
This package lift station is part of a sustained plan to expand the collection system of a large sewage treatment plant completed in 1999. The medium flow is handled by submersible solids handling pumps in a duplex configuration. A pigging port, plug valve, shut off valve, mechanical indicator, back flow actuator, and swing check valve are all contained in a below-grade valve vault. An outdoor control panel includes an autodialer for communications, conductive probes for level sensing, and an intrinsically safe barrier for in-well electrical controls.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
The City of Shafter operates several Romtec Utilities lift stations that were acquired through Romtec Utilities’ California State Contract. For the City, the typical Romtec Utilities design practices have become the standard for lift station configurations. Through Romtec Utilities’ state contract, the City can purchase affordable packaged lift stations without having to take the project out to bid, saving time, money, and effort. Romtec Utilities worked with the City to configure this lift station for the specific needs of the system, while configuring it per the City’s standards. Romtec Utilities also worked with the installing contractor, Sierra Construction, by providing an on-site construction advisor to ensure fast and trouble-free installation.
