V.C. Summer Nuclear Station – Industrial Grinder Pump Lift Station
Project Description
This package lift station was configured to handle low flows of industrial process water used for nuclear power generation. This lift station was one of the earliest systems to be installed during the construction of two new reactors at the plant. Submersible grinder pumps in a duplex configuration and a below grade valve assembly comprise the principal mechanical operations of the station. An outdoor control panel utilizes floats for primary liquid level-sensing, and an autodialer for communications and alarm notification.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities previously provided two lift stations for the Shaw Power Group during the construction of two new nuclear reactors at the Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Generating Station. Another phase of the construction project required this lift station for process water created in the power generating processes. Romtec Utilities developed a professional working relationship with Shaw Power Group that met the needs of the two previous lift stations, creating a favorable option for this additional pump station. Romtec Utilities was able to quickly and affordably meet the requirements of this project in the same manner that was achieved with the preceding two lift stations.
