Manorwood Homes – Residential Development Lift Station Retrofit
Project Description
A residential development that was put on hold during the recession of the housing market needed a lift station retrofit when the development was brought back to life. This lift station was designed to handle medium flows of wastewater, but over the years, it sat unused, causing many of the components and pumps to be lost or fall into disrepair. New 5 hp Flygt pumps were provided as well as pressure transducers for level sensing. The control panel technology was originally a proprietary controller, but it was now obsolete. Romtec Utilities completely upgraded the control panel in a modern, PLC configuration.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities originally designed and supplied this wastewater lift station in 2007. The system was completely installed, but in 2008 the housing market collapse caused the developer to shut down the project. In 2015, a new developer, Rose Land and Development Inc, took up the project and hired Bradford & Sons as the general contractor to establish the infrastructure. Bradford & Sons reached out to Romtec Utilities as the original life station manufacturer and wanted to get the existing system in working order. Romtec Utilities reviewed the existing designs and issued a new retrofit plan to update the system for the current design standards for the North of the River Sanitary District in Bakersfield. This helped the developer get the new Manorwood Homes development started quickly and with approval from the City of Bakersfield.
