City of Bakersfield – Wastewater Pump Station
Project Description
Romtec Utilities supplies its customers with the best systems for the customers’ needs; the Highgate Community project is a project that required more than just a basic system. This is a Wastewater pump station in Bakersfield, California, constructed to serve a new development by Castle and Cooke.
The Highgate Community wastewater pump station is comprised of a large 8’ inner diameter (ID) and a 39’ deep wet well. This lift station is a duplex system, housing two submersible 10 horsepower (HP) Hidrostal pumps, which will be triggered by the primary level pressure sensor, a Siemens A1000 Level Transducer. In the event of failure of the level transducer, three NOLTA Floats are also inside the wet well to ensure that the system continues to pump waste away from the development.
In addition to the features inside the well, Castle and Cooke also opted for a valve vault, allowing easy access and maintenance of the valves; a Cummins Generator; an above grade disconnect panel, for easy and safe electrical disconnect; a Peacemaker Odor Scrubber to remove odors; and a Chemical Feed System as a secondary odor control to further eliminate any odors from the system.
Romtec, Inc. joined Romtec Utilities in this wastewater pump station project and supplied a two-post shelter on site to serve as the Control Panel Shelter to protect the panel, which included a Siemens LC150 Controller from potential weather hazards.
Thanks to the cooperation and coordination between Castle and Cooke, Hidrostal Pumps, Cummins McIntosh & Associates, the City of Bakersfield, and Sandoval Construction, the Highgate Community wastewater pump station project was successful and will serve the new development and its inhabitants for years to come.
