Camphora Lift Station – Affordable Housing Apartment Complex
Project Description
Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a wastewater lift station for an apartment complex in Soledad, California. This lift station pumps into an existing force main owned by the city that services the nearby Soledad Prison. Ebara submersible solids-handling pumps were engineered in a duplex configuration to meet the medium sewage flows from the apartment buildings. The operational valves and flow meter assembly were engineered in below-grade precast concrete vaults. Inside the wet well, a drop bowl is used at the inlet-line to prevent turbulent water conditions. This system uses an AST pressure transducer for primary level sensing with NOLTA floats for redundant backup. The electrical controls comprise a MicroLogix 1100 controller placed inside a NEMA 3R enclosure for environmental protection.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was contacted by Ifland Engineers, a civil engineering firm, to provide a package lift station for a new apartment complex. The new apartment complex was designed to provide affordable housing for the community around Soledad Prison. Several families had been living at this location for years in outdated conditions prior to this project’s approval. The new lift station would need to handle flows from the apartments and be approved by the four reviewing entities: the City of Soledad, Monterey County, Ifland Engineers, and South County Housing. Once our design met all standards and requirements for the application the project was sent out to bid and then installed by Sansone Company.
