City of Oakland – Municipal Wastewater Lift Station Replacement
Project Description
This municipal water district replaced an existing lift station with this packaged lift station designed for the high sewage flow requirements. 15 hp submersible sewage pumps discharges to a below grade valve assembly, which includes valves, actuators, indicators, and access ports. The outdoor control panel utilizes a pressure transducer for primary liquid level sensing and float controls for backup. The panel also includes soft starters to reduce the inrush current, which can sap the onsite generator during pump starts.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities worked with the City of Oakland and MACTEC (Civil E.) to design a replacement wastewater lift station for the City. MACTEC provided geotechnical reports and site plan information that allowed Romtec Utilities to develop and propose an equipment layout on the site plan for the replacement lift station. The approved lift station layout specified a small footprint, locating the lift station next to a city street. Andes Construction was the selected contractor for the excavation and underground installation of the lift station and its related components. Romtec Utilities provided an on-site construction adviser to assist with the installation process. The on-site representation provided assistance to quickly and safely install this lift station.
