City of Victorville – 10th Street Lift Station
Project Description
The City of Victorville needed to replace an existing lift station that had been converted to a manhole. The new lift station would handle medium flows of wastewater, and pump it uphill to gravity and off to treatment. To meet the flow and head requirements, Romtec Utilities included 2 hp Ebara submersible pumps in a duplex configuration. The hillside location created unique design considerations such as a hatch rated for street traffic installed at a sloped grade. A durable iron manhole lid was cast into place with the wet well. The system operation valves comprise swing check valves and plug valves and are located in a precast vault beneath an adjacent sidewalk. The lift station electrical controls were installed up the hill from the lift station and include an intrinsically safe NEMA 4x fiberglass enclosure.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
This project began with a separate project. The Victor Valley Wastewater Reclamation Authority (VVWRA) brought Romtec Utilities this project after working with us. Romtec Utilities worked alongside VVWRA and the City of Victorville on the design of this lift station replacement. The existing system was once a fully operational lift station, but it was converted to function as a manhole. Romtec Utilities designed a lift station replacement plan that met all of the project requirements and satisfied the reviewing parties. Apple Valley Construction purchased the lift station supply directly and installed it after being awarded the project.
