Clark Regional Wastewater District – Wastewater Lift Station for Residential Development
Project Description
Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a wastewater lift station for a new residential development in the City of Ridgefield, Washington. The development and lift station will be completed in phases to meet the growing flow rates of the service area. Romtec Utilities met the initial flow requirements using 11hp Flygt pumps in a duplex configuration. Design standards of the public utility district who will own and operate the system required a liquid phase odor control system to prevent damage caused by hydrogen sulfide gas. This system includes a disconnect panel with Meltric receptacles that allows personnel to safely disengage pumps by unplugging them. Electrical controls for the system comprise an alternating duplex control panel with a Micrologix 1400 PLC that is sheltered beneath a 4-post utility shelter. This system also includes radio telemetry to automatically notify personnel of any issues with the pump station.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was chosen for this project because of our history of success working in the Clark Regional Wastewater District (CRWWD), which will eventually own & operate the lift station. Prior to this system, Romtec Utilities completed several projects in the CRWWD and helped the District develop a modern design standard for their pump stations. This wastewater lift station is for the Kennedy Farm development by Lennar, the housing developer, and will eventually service over 240 homes. The lift station was designed using information provided by Sterling Engineering, the engineering firm working with CRWWD. After the system was designed according to the standard specs and approved, Tapani Construction purchased the lift station and carried out the installation. This project was unique to Romtec Utilities as it was the first completed system to include Romtec Utilities own odor control system that uses a gravity fed system for distribution. When the system was ready for installation, Romtec Utilities sent an installation adviser as a resource to the contractor to answer any questions regarding the install process.
