A clean water pump station was designed, manufactured, and supplied by Romtec Utilities for the Kauai Coffee Company in Kalaheo, Hawaii. This project involved retrofitting a system that had been heavily damaged by fire and required a fast and effective solution to restore irrigation to one of the largest coffee plantations in the United States.

With a tight timeline and critical operational requirements, Romtec Utilities delivered a system capable of meeting both immediate irrigation demands and long-term performance goals. The new pump station ensures consistent water delivery throughout the plantation, helping support crop health, operational efficiency, and large-scale coffee production.

Kalaheo and Kauai Coffee Company

Kalaheo is a small community located on the southern side of the island of Kauai. Known for its scenic landscapes, warm climate, and agricultural heritage, the region supports a variety of farming operations, including coffee production.

The Kauai Coffee Company operates the largest coffee plantation in the United States, with thousands of acres dedicated to growing, harvesting, and processing coffee. The plantation is also a popular destination for visitors, offering tours, tastings, and educational experiences that showcase the coffee-growing process.

Because of the plantation’s size and production demands, reliable irrigation infrastructure is essential. When the original pumping system was severely damaged by fire, restoring water delivery became an urgent priority. The project required a clean water pump station that could be designed, manufactured, and installed quickly to minimize disruptions to daily operations.

Clean Water Pump Station Retrofit

Clean Water Pump Station Configuration and Capacity

The system utilizes a triplex pump configuration, allowing three pumps to work together to manage water flow. This arrangement enables the station to adjust efficiently to changing irrigation demands while providing redundancy if one pump requires maintenance or servicing.

Designed to move large volumes of water efficiently, the pumps ensure reliable irrigation coverage across the plantation. The system supports continuous operation and can accommodate peak flow demands during critical growing periods.
