Romtec Utilities designed, manufactured, and supplied a federal wastewater lift station replacement for Green Ridge Campground, a U.S. Forest Service campground near Grand Lake, Colorado.

The existing sewer lift station had reached the end of its service life. As a result, the campground needed a reliable replacement system for visitors using the campground, boat launch, and RV sites. Romtec Utilities worked with the project team to develop a site-specific lift station package. The package met the pumping requirements, project budget, and federal owner expectations.

Green Ridge Campground is located about 12 miles northwest of Granby on the shores of Shadow Mountain Reservoir. The U.S. Forest Service campground serves visitors southwest of Grand Lake in Grand County, Colorado, who come to the area for boating, fishing, hiking, camping, and access to nearby Rocky Mountain National Park.

Grand Lake sits at an elevation of about 8,369 feet and had a 2020 Census population of 410. Because of its mountain setting, seasonal tourism, and public recreation infrastructure, the campground needed dependable wastewater pumping to stay operational.

The U.S. Forest Service contacted Romtec Utilities for preliminary design support and budgetary pricing for a replacement wastewater lift station at Green Ridge Campground.

Romtec Utilities provided competitive pricing to project bidders. Tusca KS Inc. then included the Romtec Utilities package in its winning proposal. After award, Tusca KS Inc. worked with Romtec Utilities to finalize the approved design and deliver the complete lift station supply package for the federal wastewater lift station.

This approach gave the U.S. Forest Service competitive pricing, coordinated design support, and a complete system package for the replacement sewer lift station serving the campground’s wastewater infrastructure.

Green Ridge Campground includes 79 non-electric campsites for tents, trailers, and RVs. Additional amenities include picnic tables, campfire rings, flush and vault toilets, drinking water, a boat ramp, and a dock. Because the campground sits between Shadow Mountain Reservoir and the Colorado River, it needed a wastewater lift station that could handle seasonal use and changing visitor demand.

Romtec Utilities configured the campground wastewater lift station to meet the site’s medium sewage flow requirements and support reliable pumping for campground facilities.

To meet these conditions, the system included duplex submersible solids-handling pumps, an inlet line drop bowl, and an in-ground valve vault. The package included a UL-listed control panel with float controls, an autodialer, and a basic alarm. The project team mounted the control panel on the exterior wall of an existing building.

The federal wastewater lift station pumps up to 120 gallons per minute against 90 feet of total dynamic head.
