This data center wastewater lift station was for a T5 Construction Services data center in Hillsboro, Oregon. Romtec Utilities designed the wastewater lift station to meet the site requirements and project needs, through our experience working with data center developers across the U.S.

This data center was in Hillsboro, the fifth largest city in Oregon, situated just to the west of the Portland metro area.

Hillsboro is home to many technology companies and is known locally as the silicon forest, a nod to Silicon Valley. Intel has a major campus in Hillsboro where it has its largest facilities. The city is also home to the Hillsboro Hops, a minor league baseball team who plays in the Northwest League.

T5 Construction Services LLC was the end owner of this wastewater pump station that was needed for the data center. T5 Construction Services is a general contractor for data center builds — from complex ground-up campuses to retrofit and turnkey projects tailored to data center projects.

The civil engineer was Navix Engineering, who reached out to Romtec Utilities looking for assistance with the design of a wastewater lift station for an industrial project for T5 data centers in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Navix has previously worked with Romtec Utilities on another data center project, the DLR OR2-PDX12. Navix provides site and civil engineering services with offices in Bellevue, Washington, and Clackamas, Oregon.

Romtec Utilities worked through the design for the system with Navix, including several revisions to the preliminary design. The Romtec Utilities system was specified as the basis of the design and sample drawings provided by Romtec Utilities were used in the bid plans.

Fortis Construction was the general contractor while Coffman Excavation was awarded the utility work and installed the wastewater pump station that Romtec Utilities designed and supplied.

The wastewater lift station has a precast 5-foot inner diameter by 15-feet deep wet well, precast 660 valve vault, duplex 3-horsepower Ebara submersible pumps, E&H FMX21 pressure transducer, NOLTA MS1 floats (2), with the control panel housed in a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure. The duty point is 110 gallons per minute at 21.8′ total dynamic head.

Coffman has installed other pumping systems on Romtec Utilities projects including the PDX TCORE and Port of Portland parking structure development. Coffman provides site preparation, street construction, utility installation, along with other construction services.

We manufactured the precast 660 valve vault on this project; by assembling all the valves and components within this vault so it was ready to drop into the ground for installation. This saves time, money, and equipment needed for the installation of the system. All this savings is passed on to the customer.
