Kansas City, Missouri Industrial Wastewater With Variable pH
This pump system with variable pH required a system designed to handle process wastewater that comes from cleaning cycles at an animal health facility. The variable water chemistry pump system with variable pH meant a unique design of the system with a double wall fiberglass sump with leak detection, and submersible components all made of stainless steel to deal with the highly variable water chemistry at the Merck Animal Health facility.
We worked with Arcadis U.S. to design and manufacture this process water pump system for the Merck Animal Health facility in Kansas City, Missouri. This water scenario was not entirely new to Romtec Utilities which assisted our engineers as they navigated the best way to design a system pumping highly variable water chemistry and the best components to use in that pumping environment.
Kansas City, Missouri is a major city on the western edge of the state that borders Kansas. Centrally located in the Midwest, Kansas City has flavorful barbecue and is home to robust jazz history. The city is home to the American Jazz Museum in the historic 18th and Vine district.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is in Kansas City providing 5,000 years of art spanning different eras including neoclassical and modern galleries.
The Missouri River flows through the city providing recreational activities and spaces.
Double Wall Fiberglass Sump With Leak Detection
This industrial pumping system was designed to handle medium flows of process wastewater created from cleaning cycles at the Merck Animal Health facility.
The wastewater was specified with highly variable pH conditions, so the pumping system was designed with a double-wall fiberglass sump with leak detection.
All the submersible components in the well were constructed of stainless steel, including the Tsurumi duplex submersible pumps. The pumping system electrical controls comprised a UL listed panel with SCADA integration. The industrial wastewater pump system utilized a 6’ diameter wet well and 3” discharge piping. The system can pump up to 100 gallons per minute @ 21 total dynamic head (TDH).
Industrial Wastewater Variable Water Chemistry Pump System
Arcadis U.S., Inc. contacted Romtec Utilities to design and engineer this pumping system with variable pH for Merck’s Animal Health facility.
Its specification required a unique and tough design with a double-wall sump and highly variable water chemistry.
Romtec Utilities designed this system with a Xerxes fiberglass sump with double-walls, leak detection and stainless steel componentry. This design was both difficult and costly to manufacture, but Arcadis U.S. was determined that Merck Animal Health would receive an extremely robust system that would meet its needs and protect the environment.
Variable Water Chemistry Pump System
With the grit shown by Arcadis U.S., the Romtec Utilities design was manufactured, supplied, and installed to meet the needs of Merck Animal Health and protect the local environment.
Arcadis U.S. is the world’s leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets with offices all over the U.S.
Merck Animal Health offers a wide range of innovative products for animal health, including pharmaceuticals, vaccines, biologics, and more.
At Romtec Utilities, we were pleased to partner with Arcadis U.S. and Merck Animal Health for this industrial wastewater pump system that pumps process wastewater that comes from cleaning cycles.
We have provided a variety of process water pump systems with Xerxes double walled fiberglass sump with leak detection to meet the needs of containing any wastewater from leaking into the environment. This is a common thing seen in industrial wastewater pumping projects.
Dealing with caustic pumping environments with high temperature levels is another common pumping need that we design for in industrial pumping environments. We have designed a variety of systems that handle caustic pumping environments by selecting components that can last in these extreme pumping environments.
We can design, manufacture, and deliver an industrial wastewater pump system that will meet your pumping requirements at your project site. We provide an onsite installation technician to ensure the pump station is installed per the design. We provide commissioning, startup, and training for maintenance personnel. On top of that we provide a robust warranty as we handle the entire process as your sole source pump station provider.
