Kitsap County – Wastewater Lift Stations for Residential Community
Project Description
Romtec Utilities provided 3 wastewater lift stations for Kitsap County in Washington. Each lift station is engineered with 4 hp Flygt pumps in a duplex configuration to meet prescribed flow rates. Pressure transducers within the precast wet well are used as the primary level sensing equipment with Nolta floats present for redundancy protection. Valve vault structures are installed adjacent to their wet wells and contain operational valves. These valve vaults can easily be accessed by maintenance personnel by a ladder. Additionally, all of the vault structure’s top hatches are rated for pedestrian traffic.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities acquired this job through the public bid process after preparing a quote and scope of supply for the City of Port Orchard. This project included 3 lift stations and the the rehabilitation of the Beach. We worked primarily with Redside Construction, the general contractor, providing the design and supply of the lift stations as complete systems including everything except the electrical and pumps. Our lift stations we designed around geotechnical data collected by Landau Associates and BHC Consultants, the engineering firm. While installing these lift stations, the excavated pits needed to be dewatered frequently because of the high groundwater table. Redside managed these conditions onsite and completed installation. Romtec Utilities onsite technician then traveled to the install and provided start-up services and training for the municipality’s operating personnel.
