River Ridge Apartments – Apartment Complex Booster Pump Station
Project Description
A new apartment complex required a booster pump station for maintaining the water pressure of potable water for the apartments. The booster station used 5 hp Goulds stainless steel, multi-stage pumps in a triplex configuration. Two pressure expansion tanks were included for maintaining pressure during pump cycles. Electrical controls comprise a Unitronics v350 PLC, Dwyer pressure sensors, and a NEMA 12 enclosure. This control panel was designed to sense and maintain water at a consistent pressure in a “closed loop control” configuration. Essentially as water is turned on and off throughout the 180 unit complex, the booster pump station “ramps up” or “winds down” to keep the pressure the same for each apartment.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
SharpCor Inc., the project contractor, came to Romtec Utilities needing this water pressure booster pump station. The booster pump station was an addition to the project after construction began. 4B Engineering & Consulting, LLC, the project engineer, determined that the water pressure to the apartments was insufficient. Romtec Utilities worked with SharpCor using the provided criteria for design to engineer this booster pump station. 4B Engineering & Consulting signed off on the proposed design, and Romtec Utilities manufactured and supplied the booster skid. Finally, Romtec Utilities provided start-up and training with the River Ridge Apartments maintenance staff.
