Sage Apartments – Big and Little Stormwater Pump Stations
Project Description
Sage at Cerritos is a new luxury apartment complex in Cerritos, California, a suburb of Los Angeles. Romtec Utilities provided two stormwater pump stations for this residential development aptly referred to as “big stormwater” and “little stormwater”. The big stormwater system pumps stormwater at 2850 gpm with 15 hp Ebara pumps in a triplex configuration. The “little” stormwater system operates at a discharge pumping rate of 23 gpm in a duplex configuration with ½ hp Ebara submersible pumps. Reliable level-sensing inside the 10’ diameter wet well is accomplished with an AST pressure transducer and NOLTA floats as redundant sensors. Electrical controls for the big stormwater system reside in a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure while controls for the smaller system are placed in a NEMA 4X fiberglass enclosure.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities partnered with KHR Design, the project engineer, to integrate two stormwater pump stations into their overall site design. This approach allowed KHR to focus on the apartment complex while assuring it would get two stormwater pump stations designed to meet the site requirements. Once the design was reviewed and approved, Delta Pipeline, the installing contractor, purchased both systems directly from Romtec Utilities. Delta Pipeline supplied the structural concrete wet wells, while the mechanical, electrical, and communication systems for both pump stations were included in the Romtec Utilities scope. When the systems were ready to be commissioned, a Romtec Utilities technician provided start-up services and training onsite for the owners and operators of Sage Apartments, LLC.
