Solyndra – Stormwater Runoff Pump Station
Project Description
This new commercial complex required two new stormwater pump stations designed to meet low flows of runoff. The manholes and hatches were designed at grade to integrate seamlessly with the brick patio and walkway. Submersible centrifugal pumps in a duplex configuration discharge to below grade valve assemblies accessible by valves cans. The UL listed control panels are contained by stainless steel NEMA enclosures and include intrinsically safe barriers. Both lift stations were designed with the same primary components for site standardization.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
For the construction of the Solyndra campus, Soyndra chose to include two Romtec Utilities stormwater lift stations into its stormwater plans. Romtec worked in the design phase with Kier & Wright Civil Engineers & Surveyors, Inc. to specify designs consistent with Solydra’s goals for pumping requirements and appearance. Preston Pipeline was awarded the project, and Romtec Utilities submitted quotes for the specified lift stations. In order to meet Preston Pipeline’s budget, Romtec Utilities reengineered aspects of the lift station to be more economical, and Preston Pipeline submitted the Romtec Utilities design for approval. After Kier and Wright approved the designs, Romtec Utilities provided on-site construction advisors, start-up services, training, and a full system warranty.
