Sunshine Canyon Landfill – Leachate Pump Station
Project Description
Republic Services, Inc. needed a new pump station to handle medium flows of wastewater in the form of treated leachate from its Sunshine Canyon Landfill. Precast concrete was used for the valve and meter vault and for the 21-foot-deep wet well structure. Along with robust hatches with fall-protection, the structural units were designed with a full-traffic rating. Two, 15 hp Ebara pumps were used to meet the pumping requirements. A separate meter vault was included to monitor the volume of treated leachate being pumped to the municipal water treatment facility. The electric controls comprised a UL listed control panel with floats for level-sensing and a NEMA 4X enclosure for outdoor operation with additional corrosion protection.
