In the Union Pacific City of Industry project, Romtec Utilities supplied a stormwater pump station for a new Union Pacific Railroad Maintenance Office. This project is located in the City of Industry, California in Eastern Los Angeles County.

The Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) is a transport company that operates in the western United States. They ship materials such as food, forest products, agricultural products, and other goods. The Union Pacific Railroad has been serving customers and communities for over 150 years, and has charitable programs to help support non-profit organizations such as the National Park Foundation, according to the UPRR website.

Transystems was hired by UPRR to design a new Intermodal Maintenance Office, and brought the project to Romtec Utilities for the supply of the Lift Station. The lift station was needed to empty a stormwater detention pond, and pump the water to an existing gravity drain system.

The stormwater pump station supplied by Romtec Utilities features a precast concrete wet well that has a 5’ inner diameter. This duplex system is 8.66’ in depth, and utilizes two 5 horsepower Ebara submersible pumps to meet the duty point, a balance between the needs of the system and what the pumps can deliver.

Four NOLTA floats measure the water levels inside the wet well, and send level readings to the primary controller, an alternator, that manages the pumping cycles. The controller is located in a control panel housed inside of a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure.
