MARS, Inc. – Stormwater Lift Station
Stormwater Lift Station Project Description
Romtec Utilities had the opportunity to supply a new stormwater lift station for the expansion at the Mars Chocolates offices in Hackettstown, New Jersey. This project was brought to us by Nordic Contracting Company, Inc. for U.P. Engineers and Architects Inc and Mars, Inc.
In a press release by Mars in 2017, it was announced that Mars Wrigley U.S. would be moving its headquarters to offices in Hackettstown, New Jersey. Mars has roots in New Jersey and first opened its doors in Newark in 1941, and has been a part of the Hackettstown community since 1958. Moving their headquarters to Hackettstown will allow the company to continue to grow and serve their customers, the brands they have all come to know and love including chocolates, gum, pet food, and more. (Mars, Inc., 2017) As the new headquarters, Mars has invested in expanding their Hackettstown offices and was in need of a stormwater lift station to safely collect stormwater from the facility to be sent off for treatment.
Stormwater Lift Station Design
To meet the needs of the Mars expansion, Romtec Utilities designed and supplied a stormwater lift station composed of a precast 4’ inner diameter wet well that extends 6.73’ in depth. This lift station is a simple system with a single Goulds 1/3 horse power pump, NOLTA floats that monitor level and Dry Contacts available for monitoring select signals.
The Romtec Utilities supplied lift station was installed onsite by Nordic Contracting Company, Inc. As a part of our lift station packages, our start-up experts flew to New Jersey to oversee the startup and commissioning of the system to ensure a successful start-up and troubleshoot any problems. Our experts are dedicated to delivering a successful pump station to our customers, and the successful start-up of the Mars Chocolates stormwater lift station will allow Mars to continue their expansion and deliver the products we all know and love.
