Housing Development Wastewater Pump Station in Cameron, Arizona
Reliable staff housing requires reliable infrastructure. For the Echo Cliffs development in Cameron, Arizona, W.W. Clyde turned to Romtec Utilities for a complete housing development wastewater pump station. Romtec Utilities designed, manufactured, and supplied a duplex lift station to serve 92 homes near the Echo Cliffs Health Center. The coordinated system provides dependable wastewater conveyance, built-in pump backup, and one integrated solution for the contractor.
The project specifications named other pump and control manufacturers. To offer an equal system, Romtec Utilities had to meet the required hydraulic, operating, and maintenance criteria. The project team approved the proposed design without sacrificing performance or service access.
Where Is the Echo Cliffs Wastewater Pump Station Located?
The Echo Cliffs Health Center is in the Bodaway/Gap community near Cameron, Arizona. Cameron is a small community on the Navajo Nation in Coconino County. It is about one hour north of Flagstaff and is near the Grand Canyon and Little Colorado River Gorge.
Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation led development of the 123,000-square-foot outpatient facility in the area. The center will bring primary care, pediatric care, pharmacy services, eye care, physical therapy, women’s health, specialty clinics, and other programs closer to Navajo, Hopi, and Southern Paiute families. The project broke ground in 2024.
The development includes 92 staff housing units: 60 apartments and 32 single-family homes. The housing development wastewater pump station is designed to collect sewage from these homes and move it to the downstream collection system.
How Was the Housing Development Wastewater Pump Station Designed?
Romtec Utilities engineered the wet well, pumps, valve vault, controls, and support equipment as one coordinated system. With one source for the major lift station components, W.W. Clyde could simplify procurement, installation coordination, and startup support.
Housing Development Pump Station Features
- 5-foot inside-diameter precast wet well, 16.6 feet deep
- Precast 577 valve vault
- Two 5-horsepower Keen submersible pumps
- DPC-4F alternator controller
- Four NOLTA MS1 floats for primary level sensing
- NEMA 4 painted-steel control enclosure
- Duty point of 92 gallons per minute at 33.8 feet of total dynamic head
What Design Challenge Did the Project Team Solve?
The main design challenge was proving that the proposed equal would satisfy the specification’s hydraulic, operational, and maintenance requirements.
Romtec Utilities documented the package’s design flow, head pressure, operating reliability, and service access for W.W. Clyde and the project team. Coordinating the major components also ensured that the station would function as a unified wastewater pumping system.
The selected pumps deliver 92 gallons per minute at 33.8 feet of total dynamic head. They also account for 28.6 feet of static head and the 1,361-foot force main. Matching the equipment to these conditions supports steady operation at the required duty point.
