Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
The Marathon Petroleum Refinery in Robinson, IL needed a new industrial process water pump system to handle its medium flows of highly acidic water combined with standard wastewater.
PEDCO, the site engineer, contacted Romtec Utilities to assist on the design of this industrial process and wastewater pump station with stringent design requirements. In addition to combining acidic process water with standard wastewater, the pump system needed to be completed with a cost-effective design. PEDCO is a leading engineering design firm that is now based under IMEG.
PEDCO used Romtec Utilities designs to put the project out to bid and Romtec Utilities quoted the bidders with Freitag-Weinhardt, Inc. winning the installation. Romtec Utilities was able to help Freitag-Weinhardt win the bid for this complicated specification through our expertise and their understanding.
Freitag-Weinhardt, Inc. is a mechanical contractor that is nationally recognized based in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Skanska, the project procurement, and control company understood the value of the Romtec Utilities package and approved the pump system aspect of the project.
A precast concrete sump included an interior Tnemec coating to withstand the water chemistry from a refinery testing lab.
11 hp Goulds grinder pumps were designed in a duplex configuration and included a factory epoxy coating to withstand the water chemistry. The pump system piping was designed with stainless steel components, and corrosion resistant floats were included as the liquid level sensing devices.
The industrial process water pump station features 5′ diameter wet well, 3″ SS discharge piping, and two Goulds grinder pumps.
We were proud to provide the design, manufacture, and supply of this oil refinery process water pump station that met high standards for acidic water. We design pump stations for various industrial refineries and manufacturing plants all over the country with our team of design experts specializing in pump station systems.
