Nearly all our pumping systems include wet wells and valve vaults that are considered confined spaces. All vault structures are confined spaces, but some pumping applications – like sewer – are also exposed to potentially flammable gases and vapors. These are classified as hazardous spaces and given a Class/Division/Group rating.

Wet Wells are the primary structural component of most pump stations, and Romtec Utilities designs, manufactures, and supplies wet wells for many different pumping applications. Wells and sumps can be fabricated out of many different types of materials, and some of the most common are concrete, fiberglass, and polymer.

One feature included on many different pumping systems is the auxiliary vault structure. Vault assemblies comprise components such as valves, meters, air release valves, pressure relief valves, pumping ports, pigging ports, and other components.

Romtec Utilities designs and supplies pumping systems for many different applications, and it is common to include features like weir walls and baffle walls. These features are the most common in stormwater pumping, but other water types can benefit from these features if there are suspended solids or if turbidity will have a negative impact on the system components.
