Project Description
The Bureau of Reclamation needed a new wastewater lift station to handle medium flows of wastewater in Klamath Falls, Oregon. This pumping system includes 2 hp Ebara submersible pumps engineered in a duplex configuration to meet the anticipated sewage flow and provide redundancy. A precast concrete valve vault was installed below-grade and adjacent to the wet well. This vault contains all the operation valves for the system and provides easy access for maintenance personnel. A pressure transducer was utilized for in-well level sensing with NOLTA floats for redundant controls. Electrical controls comprise a logic relay controller inside an intrinsically safe NEMA 4 enclosure.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was first contacted by the Bureau of Reclamation Engineering. As a government agency, the Bureau of Reclamation could not purchase this lift station directly from Romtec Utilities. Our initial role on this project was to create a preliminary design for creating bid documents. Working with the Bureau, we developed complete engineering documents and specifications, and the project went out to bid. The Bureau provided all bidders with additional specifications about Romtec Utilities to function as a supplier. Bob’s Excavating, Inc. chose Romtec Utilities for the supply of the lift station in its bid and was awarded the project. This was a great example of Romtec Utilities working alongside a federal agency through an entire bid process!
