Indian Springs Resort – Geothermal Meter Vault
Project Description
The Indian Springs Resort was required to add a geothermal flow meter vault to send its used spring water to treatment at the City of Calistoga. Water from the geothermal pools and spas at the resort must be treated before being discharged. The City allowed Indian Springs Resort to use its treatment facility as long as the flow to the water treatment plant was monitored. This flow meter vault was designed with a 10 foot deep precast concrete round vault. The flow meter used was a Toshiba electromagnetic flowmeter. The gravity water line include a slight incline to prevent the metering line from draining. The flow meter control was wired into an adjacent control panel for a wastewater lift station also supplied for a different aspect of this project.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities began working with BKF Engineers representing the Indian Springs Resort in Calistoga, California. The total project scope called for two wastewater lift stations, a stormwater pump station, and a geothermal water flow meter vault. Romtec worked with BKF Engineers and the Indian Springs Resort to design and manufacture all four systems to meet approval from the City. This flow meter vault allowed the City to charge Indian Springs for water treatment services proportional to the amount of water discharged from the resort. Carlisle Construction was the installing contractor and Romtec Utilities worked to deliver and install this system on-time. Romtec Utilities also provided onsite commissioning of the systems with training for the Indian Spring Resort operators.
