For this navy wastewater lift station, we provided a new pump station for the Lakehurst Naval Air Station that featured Weil Slicer pumps. We worked with DJs Mechanical and Pennoni Associates to provide this navy wastewater lift station for the naval base in New Jersey, where a variety of operations happen like aircraft launch and recovery equipment trainings.

Lakehurst is a borough within Ocean County, in New Jersey not far from the Atlantic Ocean coastline. It is about 14 miles from the beaches in Seaside Heights.

The Navy Lakehurst Historical Society provides education and history on the hangars and air ships that were once common in Lakehurst in the 1900’s. Many U.S. Navy blimps called the Naval Air Station Lakehurst home. The base was the first international airport in the U.S.

Lakehurst is also home to the Lakehurst Naval Air Station, which is part of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst where the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division Lakehurst is located. It is a US Air Force joint base and is under the 87th Air Base Wing. A variety of operations take place at the base including aircraft launch and recovery equipment.

Romtec Utilities began this project working with DJs Mechanical out of Millstone Township, New Jersey. DJs Mechanical is a mechanical contractor, and proficient in all facets of HVAC, with services such as heat exchangers, condensate receivers, boilers, chillers, and much more based in Millstone Township, New Jersey.

The project was for this new wastewater lift station for the Lakehurst portion of the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst near Trenton, New Jersey.

This wastewater lift station was designed to meet the standards of the Lakehurst Naval Air Station while remaining cost effective.

A duplex pump configuration utilized submersible 7.5 HP Weil Slicer Pumps to handle suspended solids in the sewage. A UL listed control panel was designed and manufactured in a NEMA 4 enclosure for outdoor operation. Nolta floats were used for the in-well liquid level sensing. The below-grade structural components were designed and supplied precast concrete vaults painted with a marine epoxy exterior coating to prevent moisture incursion.

The stormwater pump lift station features 8′ diameter wet well, 6″ discharge piping, 7.5HP Weil Slicer pumps, 6″ – 6′ X 8′ valve vault, EJ H-20 rates safety hatch, Thern portable davit crane, TPS hymax couplings, Nolta MS1 level controller, AVK check valves, Valmatic plug valves, and Cummins generator.

Romtec Utilities also worked with the site engineer, Pennoni Associates. Garden State Precast supplied the concrete components of the lift station to reduce the cost of the project for the Naval Air Station. Garden State Precast is a precast plant that offers a complete range of concrete products built to exact specifications based in Wall Township, New Jersey which isn’t far from the Lakehurst Naval Air Station.

Pennoni Associates is an ENR Top 500 consulting engineering firm, who partners with clients to design innovative engineering solutions for many markets and project types.
