Bridge Development Partners – Stormwater Lift Station
Wastewater Lift Station Project Description
The City of Sumner in Washington supports nearly 14,000 jobs. (sumnerwa.gov) What is a quiet town at night with a little over 10,000 residents, grows by over 8,500 workers in the day. Less than 30 miles from Seattle, the City of Sumner is growing in the manufacturing, construction, and retail trade industries. (sumnerwa.gov) As part of this growth, Bridge Point Sumner 60 invested in the commercial development at 136th Ave. E in Sumner. This industrial development features one large building with office spaces, ample parking, truck docking areas, and easy access to highways and the Port of Tacoma.
Bridge Point Sumner 60, LLC is a part of Bridge Development Partners, and has developed numerous industrial structures in Seattle and the surrounding areas in Washington. For their new development, the location was in need of a Romtec Utilities stormwater lift station to collect runoff water from the building and parking lot areas.
Wastewater Lift Station Design
The supplied lift station consists of a precast, 5’ inner diameter wet well that is 19.66’ in depth. Once the stormwater reaches the wet well it goes into a drop bowl assembly, a funnel or bowl like structure mounted on top of a vertical pipe just below the inlet pipe. Drop bowls catch the incoming water and direct inflow down the pipe and into the well, reducing the amount of turbulence present in the well. Reducing turbulence in a system can have many benefits such as protecting the in well components and getting accurate level readings from the NOLTA MS1 floats.
Four NOLTA floats located at predetermined levels in the wet well send signals back to a Alternator Relay control panel, which controls the pump down cycles of the two 1 horsepower Ebara Submersible pumps. The controller is housed in a NEMA 4 painted steel enclosure, providing a sturdy, reliable, and safe control panel on site.
This project was brought to Romtec Utilities by Barghausen Consulting Engineers, the site engineer, who we have worked with in the past on the “Sumner Ridge Booster Station” and the “Industrial Crating and Packing” projects. The lift station was sold to and installed on site by McKee Enterprises, LLC, whose hard work allowed Romtec Utilities to perform a successful startup and commission of the system for the owner, Bridgepoint Sumner 60, LLC.
