Davis, California 55+ Residential Development Stormwater Lift Station
For this 55+ residential development stormwater lift station, Romtec Utilities provided the complete pump system for this large residential community. The system can pump up to an impressive 4,000 gallons per minute with the Flygt 25 horsepower pumps in a triplex configuration. We worked alongside the developer, Bretton Woods, LLC., to meet the City of Davis pumping standards, along with Cunningham Engineering Corporation and DeNova Homes, who purchased the development.
The community has 247 homes with a clubhouse, pool, and various walking trails. This retirement community provides various amenities to its residents and allows a great lifestyle in Davis, California. This stormwater lift station will pump to discharge ponds and culverts that capture stormwater events. We also provided a control shelter for this project to house the controls in a covered area, by our sister company Romtec who produces shelters and pavilions. At Romtec Utilities we design, manufacture, and supply stormwater pump stations for retirement communities like this all over the U.S.

Retirement Community Stormwater Pump Station
Bretton Woods is a new 55+ residential development in Davis, California that features 247 homes with three different design styles: bungalows, greenway homes, and cottages. The development includes a clubhouse, pool, bocce ball court and countless walking trails.
We were recommended by K Hovnanian to the developer Bretton Woods, LLC. and Cunningham Engineering Corporation. This project initially had two retirement community stormwater pump stations, in which one was to be privately owned by the HOA, and the other was to be a replacement to a City of Davis owned system.
However, there is only one pump station and it will be owned by the city. The City of Davis’s standards for stormwater pump stations are functionally identical to their wastewater standards. Therefore, we designed the system similarly to a municipal wastewater system. The project is using ponds and culverts to capture the storm events, and the stormwater lift station will discharge this upstream infrastructure at the specified pumping rate.
There is a hard limit for this 55+ residential development stormwater lift station as the force main is existing and running under a major road so that it cannot be removed or replaced.
After a Romtec Utilities site meeting with the owner, a control shelter was upgraded to our sister company, Romtec’s, standard 6-post shelter design for this lift station.
Retirement Homes Stormwater Pumping
DeNova Homes is the owner of the development going forward. DeNova Homes is a private family-owned builder, with 30 years of experience. It has earned a reputation as one of the most respected homebuilders in California. For this 55+ development stormwater pump system we worked to deliver a lift station that would meet the needs of the entire 247 homes in the community.
The stormwater lift station features a 12’ ID x 23 deep wet well with Flygt 25hp submersible pumps in a triplex configuration, with a CompactLogix controller, with Vega radar transducers. The system can pump up to 4000 gallons per minute.
