East St. Louis, Illinois Replacement Stormwater Lift Station
For this replacement stormwater lift station, we partnered with the Union Pacific Railroad Company to serve their Alton and Southern Railway Gateway Yard, that was experiencing some flooding. They decided to make some drainage improvements to the yard, therefore the replacement stormwater lift station was needed to empty a low area under a bridge, where stormwater was collecting, and the existing system couldn’t keep up.
Replacement Package Stormwater Lift Station
The yard is in East St. Louis, Illinois where they receive a decent amount of rainfall. The improvement project included road pavement near the entrance and drainage in the area. There is an existing drainage ditch system that the replacement railroad stormwater lift station needed to pump to. The existing system couldn’t keep up with the pumping demands, and the area was flooding.
David Evans and Associates was the civil engineer who contacted us about this project. We had accomplished many projects with the Santa Clarita office of David Evans and Associates prior to this project including a stormwater and a wastewater system in Sun Valley.
The stormwater lift station that Romtec Utilities designed and supplied features a precast wet well, Ebara 50 horsepower submersible pumps in triplex configuration, Endress & Hauser pressure transducer, Nolta floats, Unitronics primary controller, and Scada Sensaphone Sentinel.
The system can pump up to 11, 221 gallons per minute with all three pumps operating, so this is a fairly large stormwater lift station capable of moving a lot of water in a short amount of time.
Packaged Stormwater Lift Station
The Union Pacific Railroad Company needed a packaged stormwater lift station to service the Alton and Southern Railway Gateway Yard drainage improvements project in East St. Louis, Illinois. A package lift station means that the system will include all design, mechanical, structural, and communications elements in a single functioning system.
The Railway Gateway Yard was improving its entrance road pavement and associated drainage, so they needed to pump stormwater into the existing drainage ditch system.
The replacement pump station is needed to empty a low area under a bridge at the railyard in which stormwater collects and floods because the existing system doesn’t keep up with demand.
The Alton & Southern Railway Yard is a historic short line terminal built in 1910 that is vital to regional rail traffic.
Flooding Stormwater Lift Station Replacement
David Evans and Associates, Inc. out of Santa Clarita, CA was the civil engineer on this project who brought Romtec Utilities the opportunity from previous work we completed together. Romtec Utilities worked with David Evans & Associates on the overall design, scope, and budget of the system.
R.W. Dunteman Company was the general contractor who installed the stormwater pump station for Union Pacific Railroad Company.
East St. Louis is in the southern part of Illinois, which is about a five-hour drive from Chicago, the country’s third largest city.
The Mississippi River runs past East St. Louis dividing Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri.
Are you a private company needing a stormwater pump station to service an existing flood area? Romtec Utilities can help design and supply a pump station to help you solve your stormwater demand needs.
At Romtec Utilities, we work with developers, municipalities, contractors, and engineers all over the country providing private ownership, public ownership with stormwater lift stations that will meet their pumping needs. We design a stormwater lift station to meet local standards, while providing for the pumping requirements, dealing with the pumping environment, and the owner’s preferences when it comes to the budget and controls.
We provide a very robust warranty with our pump systems, along with a site advisor upon installation of the system to make sure it is installed per the design. Romtec Utilities also provides commissioning along with training for maintenance personnel. Our team can design a replacement stormwater lift station for your site or project, to replace an existing system that isn’t meeting your pumping needs.
Contact us today to get started on the design process. We are your one stop shop, handling the design, manufacturing, and supply of your stormwater lift station.
We can make your project a reality even if it’s a tight timeline or turnaround to the project’s construction.
