Sammamish Plateau – Water District Prefabricated Meter Vault
Project Description
An existing wastewater lift station owned by the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District in Washington needed a new meter vault to track flows of sewage into an interceptor. The new meter vault was completely prefabricated by Romtec Utilities into a precast concrete vault structure, and it also includes a bypass line intended to bypass the existing lift station during maintenance and an eventual replace scheduled in upcoming years. The flow metering vault was delivered ready to be easily set-in-place and tied-in to the existing pressure sewer line. For flow metering, a Siemens Mag meter was engineered with gate valves, swing check valves, and gate valves to operate the bypass line. A pumping port was also included on the bypass line for pigging or additional bypass pumping.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District contacted Romtec Utilities for complete design and engineering services for a meter vault with a lift station bypass line. Romtec Utilities chose to provide a design with complete prefabrication of the meter vault and the electrical and mechanical components. This design provided a low cost vault structure that could be installed very quickly. Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District agreed with this approach and placed the project out to bid. Westerlund Excavation was awarded the project, and they chose to purchase the prefabricated meter vault directly from Romtec Utilities. Using a prefabricated meter vault saved Westerlund Excavation time and resources for the installation of this component.
