Project Description
The new residential development at Clear Creek Tahoe needed two new wastewater lift stations. The location of the development has many elevation changes, and to successfully pump the residential sewage to treatment, two lift stations were necessary. Powerful 35 hp Flygt pumps were engineered in a duplex configuration for both lift stations in order to meet the high head conditions, while staying under a prescribed limit of 165 GPM. A passive odor control system was included to alleviate the symptoms caused from pumping from one lift station to another with intermittent pumping cycles. The electrical controls for both systems comprise SCADAPAK PLCs inside NEMA 3R MCC enclosures with VFD capabilities.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Manhard Consulting, the engineering firm, contacted Romtec Utilities for the design of these two lift stations. This was a unique project because of the drastic changes in elevation and Douglas County’s requirement to use an MCC. These lift stations were effectively “daisy chained” to reach the discharge elevation back to a gravity main. Working with Manhard Consulting we completed the two designs, while the contractor, VC Construction Inc., purchased these lift stations from Romtec Utilities directly. Once the lift stations were ready to install, Romtec Utilities sent an on-site technician to advise during construction, commission the system, and train owners and operators on the system operation and the MCC controls.
