Town of Samoa – Housing Development & Fire Hydrant Booster Pump Station
Project Description
Romtec Utilities designed a new booster pump station and integrated control building for a phased housing development project in the Town of Samoa, California. The booster station pulls water from an adjacent 165,000 gallon water storage tank and boosts flows for the domestic residences and fire hydrants. Romtec Utilities designed this pump station to meet the immediate flow requirements and expected future flows using Grundfos vertical turbine pumps. This super high flow booster pump station operates with three 264 gallon pressure tanks to maintain consistent pressure throughout the system. Water pressure will be maintained during power failures through with an emergency generator that was installed inside the control building, adjacent to the pump station.

Why They Chose Romtec Utilities
Romtec Utilities was contacted to provide a design service order for a new booster pump station and control building for a housing development in the Town of Samoa. This booster pump station was designed to meet the immediate and future flow requirements of the development as it continued to expand. Redundant protections were also required due to the system boosting water for the fire hydrants in the area. Romtec Utilities worked directly with California Engineering Co, Inc., the civil engineer working for the developer, to design the pump station according to the requirements of the development. The developer, Samoa Pacific Group, will be the end owner of this pump station along with the new town houses being constructed.
